God's Goodness

Romans 2:4 (NKJV) “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”

God is good. He is better than you think, and as my friend Bill Vanderbush says, "You can't imagine Him better than He is."

God's goodness is one of the predominant pillar of our Christian faith. His unconditional lovingkindness, mercy, and His benevolent generosity all fall under canopy of His goodness. Also, the unfailing presence of the Holy Spirit is a manifestation of His goodness. We have access to all His goodness through the fruit of the Spirit, spiritual gifts, miracles, and personal and corporate worship experiences. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Lights and He is not going to change His mind about that.

Jesus is the manifestation of the goodness of God. In the Book of Acts chapter 10 Peter preached to Cornelius’ household how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. In the same way that the Father sent Jesus, he also sent us to release his goodness and healing through the power of the Holy Spirit in us. It is through this manifest goodness that the world gets to experience His love, hope, and healing power leading them to repentance and faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Points to Consider

  1. It is impossible to experience the presence of God without having an encounter with the GOODNESS of God.

  2. When Moses asked God to show him His God’s glory, He replied that He would make all His GOODNESS pass before him (Ex. 33:18).

  3. King David cried out that he would have fainted if he had not believed he would see the GOODNESS of the Lord in the land of the living. (Ps. 27:13)

  4. It’s not GOOD news if it doesn’t include God’s GOODNESS. It is His GOODNESS that leads us to repentance. (Rom. 2:4)

  5. GOODNESS is a fruit of the Spirit, (Gal. 5:22). When the world encounters it they will be able to taste and see that the Lord is GOOD and be invited to experience glorious repentance in their lives!

Declaration

I walk in immeasurable levels of GOODNESS in my life. I declare that those who come in contact with me will experience an impartation of the fruit of the Spirit of GOODNESS in their lives!

Scripture

  • Psalm 65:11 (NKJV) “You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.”

  • Ephesians 5:9 (ESV) “For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;”

  • Acts 10:38 (NASB) “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

  • Romans 12:21 (ESV) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

  • Romans 2:4 (NKJV) “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I ask for a manifestation of Your goodness through me today. I ask for courage in a world suffering under fear and division, to overcome evil with Your goodness. May I owe no one anything except to love them and give them an encounter with Your goodness, in Jesus' name. Amen.
